AFC Bournemouth Women are under the Vitality Stadium lights tomorrow evening as they host Oxford United.
Helen Bleazard’s side remain unbeaten this season and sit second in the Women’s National League, two points behind leaders Watford.
The Cherries come into the game off the back of an 11-0 win against Millbrook FC on Sunday, moving them into the second round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.
Tomorrow’s opponents, Oxford, sit fifth in the table and have only conceded 7 goals so far this season.
Bleazard said: “Oxford have had a slow start, but they’re definitely one of the six that I think could win this league.
“We've got our game plan going into Wednesday which we're really looking forward to. We respect the opposition, but we know that if we can get it right on the night then we should win the game.”
Captain Abby Jones has started all seven games at Vitality Stadium so far and said that the “nerves never go” when walking out in front of the big crowds.
She said: “We definitely treat it as any other game. Obviously it’s a big occasion playing at the stadium but to be able to get the result that we want on the day we have to stay focused and treat everything the same.”
Over 5000 tickets have already been sold for tomorrow evening’s game with a great atmosphere expected for the team’s first game at Vitality Stadium this season.
Midfielder Katie James has racked up four goals in games at Vitality Stadium so far.
She said: “I think it’s always special playing at the Vitality. I think the crowd is a big thing for me, I definitely thrive in front of a big crowd.
“We’ve had some really strong team performances at the Vitality and that always helps players like myself get on the score sheet.”
The game kicks off at 7:45pm tomorrow evening at Vitality Stadium with tickets still available.
