The Cherries development squad extended their unbeaten run to six games as they beat Bristol City 4-0.

Before half-time, the Cherries had already put three goals past Bristol City Keeper Joe Duncan with captain Max Kinsey, Michael Dacosta Gonzalez and Toure Williams all getting on the scoresheet.

The last goal was scored early in the second half when right back Finn Tonks smashed it into the roof of the net from a corner.

The young Cherries had reason to impress at New Cuthbury as former Bournemouth winger Junior Stanislas, who has just recently retired, watched on from the sidelines. He was alongside former Bournemouth Right-Back Simon Francis and Chief Executive Neill Blake also.

The starting eleven saw Cherries midfielder Gavin Kilkenny, on loan last season at Charlton Athletic and Stoke City, start for the Cherries in midfield. Star winger for the Cherries Dominic Sadi was missing from the lineup, as he missed out due to injury.

The Cherries were nearly caught out very early in the first half as Bristol City’s high press caught them off guard when midfielder Dylan Kadji fired wide from the edge of the box. One of many early chances Bristol City had that weren’t put away.

The Cherries slowly grew into the game and should have taken the lead; however, striker Daniel Adu-Adjei missed an open goal opportunity failing to meet the ball at the back post from a low driven cross.

After pressure from Bournemouth grew, especially down the right-hand side through winger Michael Dacosta Gonzalez, it was in the 10th minute when captain Max Kinsey slotted the ball home after it was cut back to him from Finn Tonks after Bristol City failed to clear a corner.

In the 24th minute and after constant pressure, the Cherries had their second thanks to Michael Dacosta Gonzalez. The Spaniard on the swivel, slotted it into the bottom left-hand corner after being found on the edge of the box, after some very nice tiki-taka style play on the left-hand side.

It was only two minutes later that Bournemouth had their third thanks to Toure Williams. The midfielder broke free of the Robins backline and in the box calmly slotted it past a helpless Joe Duncan in the Bristol City goal.

Bristol City started the second half like they did the first, bright and aggressive with the high press.

However, it was the 53rd minute when Greenwood’s corner was sent deep to the back post, where Cherries defender Finn Tonks slammed it into the roof of the net almost definitely sealing the three points for the Cherries.

From then, it was Bristol City who had the control of the ball with plenty of counter-attacking opportunities for the Cherries. Daniel Adu-Adjei having an impressive performance leading the line, with strong hold up play when receiving the ball long.

The only real trouble Bristol City caused occurred in the latter stages of the second half, when Plain dived spectacularly to save a curling effort that was heading for the top corner.

The save capped off a very impressive defensive performance from the Cherries backline, with Kinsey and Greenwood dealing very well with crosses into the box, and Kilkenny clearing up the scraps effectively.

Cherries keeper Cameron Plain claimed his sixth clean sheet in a row in what was a calm and cool display from the 22-year-old.

The crowd that attended were treated to a very impressive attacking performance also, that saw nice bits of individual skill, great team link up play, and an aggressive style of play especially by the full backs Tonks and Boutin.

The win moved the Cherries up to third in the table, one point behind second place QPR, however Bournemouth have a game in hand.

Cherries Lineup: Plain, Tonks, Kinsey, Greenwood, Boutin, Kilkenny (Okoh, 79), Wadham (Landa, 61), Williams, Dacosta Gonzalez (Brown, 71), Moriah-Welsh (Tydeman, 61), Adu-Adjei.
