AFC Bournemouth drew 0-0 with La Liga outfit Real Sociedad at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
A penalty save from Ðorðe Petrović in added time of the first half prevented Mikel Oyarzabal from opening the scoring in what was the only major chance of the game.
The Cherries returned from America winning just one of their three Premier league Summer Series matches.
Andoni Iraola started a strong side including Dean Court debuts for Adrien Truffert, Ðorðe Petrović and Eli Junior Kroupi.
The Cherries had their first chance in the fourth minute. Marcus Tavernier received a great delivery into the box; his shot deflected just wide of the left-hand post.
Kroupi did very well to close down Alex Remiro, the Frenchman won the ball back well for Brooks whose effort was deflected for a corner.
Truffert found Antoine Semenyo down the left-hand side with a perfectly weighted pass. Semenyo played into the feet of Ben Winterburn whose shot fell straight into Remiro’s hands.
In additional time of the first-half, Real Sociedad were awarded a penalty. Mikel Oyarzabal stepped up and had his penalty saved well by Petrović who dived low to his left-hand side.
The second half started high in pace. David Brooks smashed an effort into the bottom right corner, producing a great save from Remiro.
The Cherries were the brighter starters to the second half with Tavernier again going close to scoring the opener. Real Sociedad defenders throwing themselves at any Bournemouth shot.
Take Kubo was the creator for most of Real Sociedad’s chances. However, those chances were few and far between.
The 76th minute saw the game’s next big chance, again coming from Tavernier. His volley bouncing on its way through forcing Remiro to get low for the save.
The Spanish visitors dominated the final minutes of proceedings creating multiple chances and coming close with their corner routines.
The game finished with the scoreline unchanged with many Cherries players having impressed the fans in attendance.
Next up for Iraola’s side is a trip to Anfield, where they face Arne Slot’s Liverpool in the Premier League opener on Friday.
