Andoni Iraola’s side are heading to Manchester full of confidence after ending the last gameweek second in the table.
Goals from Marcus Tavernier and Eli Junior Kroupi helped the Cherries to a 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest.
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are the hosts; they lost their last Premier League match away to Aston Villa.
The Cherries have never taken a point from the Etihad Stadium. The only stadium in the Premier League to hold this unfortunate record for Iraola’s side.
However, they sit second in the table and Iraola has been left pleased by his side’s start. Iraola said: “We are being competitive; all the games we have played, they have been quite level.
“We are being efficient, but now the challenge is even bigger. We’re facing one of the most challenging games we can play.”
Last season saw Iraola’s side claim a famous victory against Man City, where they came out 2-1 winners.
Iraola said the victory gave his team more confidence going into the rest of the season.
With 11 goals already this season, Erling Haaland seems to be back to his best in a sky blue shirt.
The Bournemouth boss knows the threat the Norwegian carries.
Iraola said: “We know he’s the main goalscorer and it will be difficult to stop him.
“It’s a challenge we have to accept, but they also have lots of threats.”
In terms of injuries, Iraola said his side were in a ‘good place’ with absentees and he will have a tough choice for his starting eleven on Sunday.
Evanilson returns from injury and will be available.
The Brazilian has watched his teammate Kroupi score four goals in four games, including a double away at Crystal Palace.
