Andoni Iraola’s side are now winless in five league games as the Cherries lost to Everton on Tuesday night.

Jack Grealish’s deflected effort late in the second half was the difference between the two teams as both struggled to create chances for the majority of the game.

Four changes were made to the side that lost to Sunderland on the weekend. Justin Kluivert, Eli Junior Kroupi, Alex Jimenez and Veljko Milosavljevic all coming into the side.

Andoni Iraola was hampered by suspensions as David Brooks, Marcos Senesi and Lewis Cook were all unavailable.

Both sides came into this one off the backs of defeats. Everton having been defeated 4-1 by an in-form Newcastle side.

The opening five minutes were frantic, with both sides looking to cause an attacking threat.

The pace of the game was broken down by James Tarkowski and James Garner clashing heads; both requiring treatment.

Everton proceeded to take control of possession. The Cherries having to sit back and wait for a counter for their next attacking opportunity.

The first big chance of the game fell to the Cherries.  A free kick was whipped in by Amine Adli and the ball fell to Antoine Smeneyo. His goal-bound strike was well saved by Jordan Pickford.

The game was in a stalemate come the half-hour mark with neither team really being the better side of the two.

The happier of the two teams would be the visitors. Their build up play looked tidier than the hosts. Both sides lacking the end-product.

The Cherries had the ball in the net on the edge of half-time, but it was soon ruled out for offside. Junior Kroupi latched on to Amine Adli’s pass; the Frenchman was visibly offside.

The half-time whistle blew soon after with both teams heading into the break searching for the first goal.

The home fans were sure the visitors had taken the lead and were left surprised to see the ball bounce behind the goal.

A mix up at the back saw Thierno Barry through on goal. From six yards out, his strike was saved very well by Djorde Petrovic.

Evanilson and Marcus Tavernier were substituted on at the hour mark, and they both made an instant impact.

Tavernier’s pass found Evanilson who sent it up the line to Kluivert. Kluivert then found Evanilson again; the Brazilian laid off Semenyo whose effort was tame.

The visitors took the lead in the 78th minute. Jack Grealish cut onto his right foot from outside of the box; his effort was deflected into the corner of the net.

The visitors could have had a second goal. Iliman Ndiaye was found on the edge of the box; his goalbound effort was parried away by Petrovic.

The minutes ticked away and the full-time whistle came and the Cherries are now winless in five league games.

Iraola’s side have a quick turnaround before they face Chelsea at Vitality Stadium on Saturday.
