AFC Bournemouth’s 2-0 win at home against Derby County saw  Scott Parker's side return to second spot after goals from Dominic Solanke and Jamal Lowe secured all three points at Vitality Stadium.

This was the first win for Bournemouth in ten league matches against Derby (W1 D3 L6), since completing a double over them back in 1984-85 and it the Cherries boss made sure to praise the "electric" crowd for their role in the win.

In the post-match press conference, Parker highlighted their impact on the squad: “I have to give a special mention to the crowd, I thought this place was electric today. Over the last few weeks it’s probably not been the case.

"That’s partly because of us as well. I think they optimized how we played today, this place was bouncing from start to finish.

"It’s times like this we need the fans more than ever, only 12 games left now, these fans are vitally important and a big reason as to why we’ve come away with three points today."

The Bournemouth head coach further mentioned the significance of the result today, following a disappointing 1-1 draw to Peterborough United on Tuesday.

He added: “It was a job well done in terms of the result. What was important was our performance today and we were exceptional from start to finish.

"I asked the players to come with a real intensity to our game today."

Bournemouth now sit in second in The Championship, with two points separating themselves and third placed Huddersfield Town.

However, Huddersfield have played 37 games, compared to the 34 games played by the Cherries. This gives plenty of opportunity for Bournemouth to extend the gap between the two sides in the table.

AFC Bournemouth’s next game is at home to Reading FC, who are currently just four points above the relegation zone. With Reading in 21st, the Cherries hope to get a twentieth league victory on Tuesday, with kick-off at 19:45.
