The points were shared in a thrilling derby at Victoria Park between Bournemouth FC and Christchurch on Tuesday night. Both sides enjoyed a large share of chances but were unable to steal the three points with the game finishing 1-1.

The game had a lively start as the Poppies started on the front foot with a few shots on target from outside of the box.

First blood would go to Christchurch, however, as Eder Batista won a penalty when he was brought down in the box. Batista earned the chance to convert, and he dispatched it into the bottom-left corner despite goalkeeper Harrison Guscott’s best efforts.

After Christchurch had scored, it was them that began to pile on the pressure with a few good chances just before half time, but the teams went into the changing rooms at 1-0.

The second half was all Bournemouth, as they continuously threatened the Christchurch defence. The best chance of the game undoubtedly came to Conor Jevon in the 56th minute after he stole the ball from the goalkeeper but could not convert it into the open goal as he blazed it over the bar.

It didn’t take long to rectify that mistake as Lee Brad-Haensel managed to convert a flick-on from Conor Jevon to level the score.

As the game went on, The Poppies created more and more chances but couldn’t convert them as Christchurch managed to hold on with some good defending.

Speaking to Nerve Sport, assistant manager Lee Middleton said: “We had chances to score three or even four, so we shouldn’t be going in at 1-1”.
