Bournemouth sat atop the table, five points clear and undefeated in the league going into Saturday's game with Huddersfield Town with the Yorkshire-based club in 6th chasing a playoff place and looking strong - however this clash was not as competitive as their league standings might have suggested.

A brace from top scorer Dominic Solanke, and a first goal of the season for captain Llyod Kelly meant the Cherries continued their unbeaten start to the season beating the Terriers 3-0 at Vitality Stadium.

Early in the game Huddersfield came out pressing high but failed to win the ball much of the time.

Bournemouth controlled possesion for much of the first 10 minutes, which led to a penalty as Solanke was fouled in the box by Ollie Turnton. the striker converted the resulting spot kick as Bourenmouth took command of the tie.

Scott Parker's side continued to up the pressure and control the game, with Solanke heading wide from a Philip Billing cross just after Jefferson Lerma had blazed an effort over the bar.

For a brief spell Huddersfield managed to operate around the Bournemouth box winning two fouls in quick succession on the left wing, but the deliveries from Sorba Thomas were not up to par.

Just 5 minutes later Huddersfield would rue their missed opportunities, after a coss from Ryan Christie found its way onto the head of Billing who nodded down to Solanke who calmly slotted the ball into the bottom left corner, making it 2-0.

In the build up to half-time Bournemouth took complete control, while Huddersfield looked somewhat helpless, with a speculative strike from Frazier Campbell that sailed into the crowd summing up their first half performance.

After the break, the Cherries came out flying, Christie finding himself in space and with time to strike several shots and test the Huddersfield keeper early on.

It was the same story as the first-half for Huddersfield after the break, as Bournemouth were excellent in midfield and allowed for very little opportunity with an effective counter press.

In the 64th minute, an excellent passing move off the back of a Bournemouth corner ended in a Lloyd Kelly volley, which went in off Thomas on the line - for the captain's first goal of the season.

It was a tough day for the Championships lead assister as he often found himself off the pace and misplacing too many passes, it was certainly an out of character performance against an excellent outfit.

Second half substitutions of Christie, Lerma and Solanke were replaced by Jamal Lowe, Junior Stanislas and Morgan Rogers allowing for more possession to fall Huddersfield’s way but they were unable to make their chances count.

A close shave came in the form of a shot that struck the bar from Josh Koroma, then the line, before Danny Ward converted the rebound, only for the offside flag to be raised and the goal disallowed.

An afternoon to forget for Huddersfield and another display off dominance from Bournemouth, who continue to march ahead out in front of the pack in the race for Premier League football.
