AFC Bournemouth win an intense battle against fellow strugglers Burnley.

The hosts started the brighter of the two sides but were pegged back in the 11th minute when a Burnley corner was nodded into the path of Charlie Taylor who converted with an exquisite half-volley past Premier League debutant Andrei Radu.

The match tempo dropped slightly after the opener but some good work from Ryan Christie slipping Semenyo behind the Burnley backline amassed a clear-cut opportunity for Marcus Tavernier at the back post which he failed to convert.

Antoine Semenyo carried on causing Vincent Kompany’s side problems, a minute later the Ghanaian international dispossessed Josh Brownhill inside the Burnley half and took the ball into the Burnley penalty area where he beat James Trafford with his strike to find the bottom corner.

The Cherries were persistent in their pursuit for a second as they kept the pressure on the Lancashire side, but no more clear-cut openings fell before the interval.

The second half started the same way the first ended with Bournemouth on top, Alex Scott was seeing a lot of the ball and was dictating play.

Midway through the second 45, Phillip Billing found Solanke with a pinpoint cross the striker couldn’t beat Trafford in the Burnley goal, Bournemouth were knocking at the door.

Some intense Bournemouth pressing led to Billing winning the ball in Burnley’s half, the Danish international saw Trafford off his line and clipped the ball over the young English goalkeeper's head to put the Cherries in a strong position to win their first league match of the season.

Late on Jay Rodriguez had the ball in the hosts net however a long and anxious VAR check ensured that the goal did not stand.

The hosts managed to hold on and take maximum points after a positive performance.
