The Cherries development squad end their 12-game unbeaten record as they took on Ipswich Town U21 at Vitality Stadium in front of a crowd of 2279.

The in-form cherries were aiming to go top of the Professional Development League Southern table as they faced mid table Ipswich Town FC with the cherries needing nothing other than a win the stakes were high. In a drama-filled first half Bournemouth AFC were put to the test almost immediately as Cameron Plain was forced into making a save in the 4th minute after a sweetly hit headed attempt from Ipswichs’ striker Ashley Boatswain, the save from Plain landed at the feet of the danish first team midfielder Emiliano Marcondes who played the ball into Daniel Adu-Adjei splitting ipswichs defence putting the young Kiwi goalkeeper into action for the first time of the night.

The scoreboard was opened early by the tractor boys as Ayinde ran up the wing causing Bournemouth to concede a corner, taken by Matty Roberts who found Dan O’Connors head, in which the centre back slotted the ball into the far corner.

In the 49th minute it went from bad to worse for Alan Connells’ side as Ipswich found the net once again doubling their lead as Henry Gray's goal kick picked out Osman Foyo who picked up the shot lifting it above Cameron Plain as he comes out of his goal, Foyos’ shot found the back of the net early in the second half much to the discontent of the Bournemouth fans in the stand.

Bournemouth attempted to get one back through their leading goalscorer in the 60th minute after a failed clearance from Alex Stepien-Iwuemene as the ball fell towards Daniel Adu-Adjei who ran past both centre backs to drag the ball just wide of the net. Ipswich reacted quickly when a mere few seconds later ipswich scored a beautiful team goal which started with Henry Gray playing it out from the back which eventually finds Matty Roberts who takes a chance from 25 yards and smashes it past the diving Cameron Plain from long range increasing the goal deficit to 3 and putting Bournemouth's unbeaten run in jeopardy.

The first substitution of the night came from Bournemouth as in the 64th minute Balraj Landa made way for Irish man Kian Tydeman. Shortly after ipswich made a substitution with goalscorer Osman Foyo leaving the field to be replaced by Pedro Amadou.

In the 74th minute both sides made a substitution with senior player Emiliano Marcondes departing for Euan Pollock and Ashley Boatswain for Paul Moodie.

A glimmer of hope for the south coast team as in the 78th minute Finn Tonks low cross was met by substitute Kian Tydeman at the back post to open the scoring for the young cherries however agony fell upon the team as the final whistle was blown. Alan Connell's side faced defeat for the first time since September 2023 to none other than his old team.
