Fundraising, Events and Marketing Assistant - Volunteer Placement

This opportunity takes place until 01 Sep 2024

Are you looking for a University placement? (30 hours a week for 30 weeks - starting September 2024) We’re looking for someone with lots of enthusiasm and energy to help run our very fundraising and events department. You will be hands-on to coordinate each event - from booking stages, through to assigning volunteers, to setting up and attending each event. You will gain experience from our busy yet fun fundraising and marketing team where each day is different. You will be responsible for contacting fundraisers, and keeping on top of their fundraising pages, sending upbeat and positive emails to encourage them to meet their fundraising goals. You will also help us run our social media accounts, creating and posting content within our guidelines. Full training will be given.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Support the vision, aim and purpose of Dorset Mind by embedding these principles within your role and to help ensure an inclusive and diverse environment for all at Dorset Mind.
  • Promote the work and profile of Dorset Mind within the community. 
  • Attend public events within the community and be a representative for the charity.
  • Actively encourage monetary donations to the charity.
  • Respond to public enquiries through verbal and written communications.
  • Talk knowledgeably about Dorset Mind and mental health to anyone visiting our stand at various events and confidently signpost people to appropriate help when       required.
  • Distribute information, leaflets and collection tins as and when needed.
  • Be responsible for Dorset Mind’s assets at an event e.g. charity collection tins, displays and banners.
  • Manage the fundraising and events calendar
  • Complete relevant booking forms and safety documentation
  • Liaise with and book volunteers to attend events
  • Create new and engaging posts, stories, reels or information posters using Canva and manage the posting of these across social media.
  • Schedule posts across different social media platforms
  • Counting monetary donations
  • Organising leaflets/resources
