Star Grading - SUBU Clubs and Societies

Star status means Clubs and Societies have gone above and beyond to create an accessible, collaborative and engaging community for their members. Members joining a 3/4/5* club or society can expect a high level of service with regular activities, giving them real experiences and opportunities to aid their personal and professional development.

Star Grading Leaderboard and Points

As you complete tasks, your society will accumulate points which will be reflected in the leaderboard!

How are the points allocated? One Branch = 150 Points, One Task = 25 Points

How do I get Five Star? Three Star = 100 points / Four Star = 200 Points / Five Star = Two Branches OR 300 Points

How do I record and submit the tasks our society has completed? Make sure to store all the completed tasks on a Word Doc/ spreadsheet and then email over to the team as and when you complete a Star. Remember to store a copy after submission so that you can go back and edit the document when you complete tasks throughout the year!

What counts as ‘evidence’ for completing a task? Usually, committees will submit photographs to support as evidence for a completed task. If unsure, feel free to get in touch with the team!

What email should we send our evidence to? Please send all Star Grading evidence to suclubs@bournemouth.ac.uk

What do we get for completing 3/4/5 Star? Taking part in the Star Grading scheme highlights to potential members that the quality of the activity you are organising is of a higher standard, leading to potential increase in engagement and new members for the society. All societies that reach 3, 4 or 5 Star will receive a certificate that can be shared via LinkedIn and club social media accounts. For 5 Star societies, they will receive priority placement at Freshers and Refreshers fair and will also receive a cash prize directly into their club account at the end of the academic year.

5* CLUB OF THE YEAR – This award will be presented at the SUBU Awards and has been determined by the 5* Grading scheme rather than nomination. The club with the most points at the end of the year wins! Please note: The cut off for submissions for consideration for this award is 24/04/25 at 09:00. You may continue to submit evidence towards your accreditation but it will no longer count towards the 5-Star of the Year Award leaderboard.
