Sustainability @ SUBU
The Students’ Union at Bournemouth University (SUBU) is committed to minimising its environmental impact wherever possible. This means being more thoughtful about what we buy, who we buy it from, what we dispose of, and also being sensitive to our environment.
Sustainability at SUBU crucially includes educating our staff and members about ways in which they can improve their impact on the environment. Furthermore, SUBU facilitates and supports environmental initiatives which highlight current issues and provides volunteering opportunities for students.
In February 2018 SUBU took on the responsibility of an allotment located just a 10 minute walk away from Talbot Campus. This is managed by our Campus Collective Society and all students and staff are encouraged to go and volunteer.
We have achieved NUS Green Impact Gold & Excellent since 2012. This year NUS Green Impact has changed slightly with a more challenging workbook and a focus on the whole operation of the Students’ Union. In the academic year 2019/2020 we again achieved NUS Green Impact Excellent.
